Entertaining and cooking is great fun, but it can also get very stressful. No wonder Gordon Ramsay swears! 😉 But entertaining can also mean a simple meal with friends without spending hours and hours slaving over a hot stove. After all, the most important reason for you to have friends round in the first place is to spend time with them. Not to get stressed over hours of cooking 🙂
I really like these simple but delicious Peri Peri Prawns as a simple starter, served with some french bread to soak up the sauce. And depending on the strength of the sauce, you can add as much “kick” as you want.
Here’s what you’ll need for your Peri Peri Prawns starter
Two 200 gram bags of (King) Prawns – it works equally well with small prawns!
Drizzle of Olive Oil
Nando’s Peri Peri Sauce (your choice in strength as it comes in a variety)
French bread, or bread of your choice to wipe clean the bowl 😉
Here’s how you make it
To make your Peri Peri prawns put your King prawns in a frying pan. Drizzle with some oil, enough to leave some sauce for dipping at the end.
Add the Peri Peri sauce, about 1/4 of a bottle (be careful, the more you add, the spicier it will be :))
Adding a bit of crushed garlic is optional, but oh so yummy! If you’re adding garlic (highly recommended), fry the garlic with the prawns for a minute or so to mix them into the mixture.
Simmer and wait for the prawns to cook and heat all the way through. The oil and sauce will fuse together to form a sauce.
Serve with a variety of different breads to soak up the sauce. – How yummy does that look.
This recipe is so versatile – serve with bread or alternatively with some rice as a curry style dish, salad during the summery months, or even with pasta.
Peri Peri is available in different strengths so it depends on how “fireproof” you think your guests are. Of course you can always make two different dishes to satisfy any daredevils who are up to the challenge!
